The California Endowment Administrative
Offices
and Community Conference and Resource Center |
As we began construction,
S.L. Leonard & Associates came on board for management and
oversight of an existing team. They stepped in without a hitch.
The transition was smooth and everyone is delighted with their
consistent leadership and sound organization. Communication
has been excellent. Sean translates ‘development-speak’ into
real language so we know the status and the conditions of the
progress. Our board is very pleased with how the project is proceeding.

| Sean is an excellent facilitator. He
established a high level of trust among all the key players and
has played a key role in finalizing the purchase of the land for
our new center and in renegotiating several contracts, all with
great outcomes for The California Endowment. He knows just how
and when to be tough. From our board to our subcontractors, everyone
is very pleased with the leadership and fiscal management Sean and
his team are providing. |

| I once heard someone say that Sean has a velvet glove with a club inside; he knows how to treat people well and still be firm. It was my job to make sure this project worked out in the field. We interviewed S.L. Leonard & Associates along with three other consultants, and I would have no problem bringing him back on board for another project. He attended our project meetings with contractors, asked good questions and helped us determine where we might have problems and how we could fix them. The wagon master is the guy who sets the tone for the team, and his team members were of like quality. My interactions with S.L. Leonard & Associates were nothing but stellar. |

It is with great pleasure that I recommend the services of Sean Leonard and his team at S.L. Leonard & Associates. Sean and his team are currently assisting us in the management of 12 projects - both in pre-development and construction - that total 700 affordable housing units. The projects have a total budget of $350 million.

| Working with a construction project
manager instead of a general contractor was new for our city. I
was impressed by how quickly Sean and his team gained the respect
and acceptance of the Camarillo City Council, and began educating
and advising us on how to meet budget constraints while also staying
on schedule. Sean never sold, just educated, advised and directed.
With commitment and direct communication, he pulled together and
managed a team of diverse personalities and interests. We are very
fortunate to have him on our team. |

| We needed someone who could manage
our project tightly, and we’re very pleased with the way
S.L. Leonard & Associates is handling our new library. Sean’s
leadership is keeping the project on budget and on schedule. He
resolves any issues quickly, as they arise. He’s an excellent
communicator with all parties: city officials, contractors, architects
and others, and that’s key to keeping the project on track. |

| The purpose of this letter is to commend SL Leonard & Associates for the excellent work they did as the Construction Manager for the renovation of the 1905 Red Barn at Camarillo Ranch, located in Camarillo, CA. SL Leonard was engaged by the city of Camarillo, owner of the property, to oversee the renovation of the existing barn at the Ranch for the use by the public as a venue for dinners, weddings and other public and private events.

I feel very fortunate to have learned about Sean Leonard. He was recommended to us when our project was not going as smoothly as it could. Through his efforts and knowledge, we are now under budget and on time. Sean and everyone in his company have the same mission—to help people who are doing good work to build good buildings. He has a great sense of humor and is easy to work with. He is professional in his selection of contractors and fierce—in the nicest possible way—about managing dollars and time. The team always acts in the interest of the client and takes great pride in the work they do to improve this community and our sustainability. Sean and his team understand our mission, and we plan to have them with us for years to come as we all work to improve our university and South Los Angeles. |

First and foremost, working with Sean and all of his staff is a delight. The difficult andcomplicated activities of planning, interfacing with governmental entities and coordination of activities have been made easy. Their attention to details and expertise has ensured our major project remains on budget and on schedule. Their sense of humor, patience and willingness to develop various strategies is invaluable. Because of their ability to “get it done,” the University has, with very short notice, called upon them to assist in various other building projects. In every instance, the result is outstanding. As the project manager, I look forward to each project that includes Sean and company, and I would recommend Sean without hesitation for any size project. |

| Crossroads Community Church |
To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to highly recommend S.L. Leonard & Associates. Sean and his team did a tremendous job in leading our church building project. Crossroads relocated our facility in 2007-08 with Sean's oversight. He guided us seemlessly through a very challenging process.

| Fuller Lofts |
| We hired
S.L. Leonard & Associates because of Sean’s experience
with complex projects. Fuller Lofts is in preconstruction right
now, and our experience with Sean and his team has been very positive
so far, as other construction managers don’t always take
such a proactive approach during the early stages. We have been
working primarily with Linda Mele, whose detail-oriented approach
and ability to look for creative solutions have helped us make
wise decisions with positive economic impacts. She has a strong
technical background that has proved most helpful in reading plans
and evaluating all the options. Brad Karr came up with a great
idea to save us quite a bit of money on our gas meters, and his
work with Linda really showcases the great teamwork that S.L. Leonard & Associates
uses to get the job done. |

| Sean and Linda have
given this project better direction and grasp of reality. We now
have a stronger team commitment and a sharper focus on meeting
our project goals. Linda is the glue that holds this project together
and gets the nuts and bolts in place. She and Sean are unusually
creative at finding solutions to project challenges that meet our
goals and are a good fit for all members of the team. |

| Jamboree Housing Corporation |
S.L. Leonard & Associates was hired as an owner’s representative with a full scope of work on these construction projects. S.L. Leonard & Associates was very responsive to our needs and added value
on all three developments. They assisted us with oversight of the entire construction process, from
review of construction documents and assistance with the bidding process and selection of our general contractors through the construction process. S.L. Leonard & Associates became a critical member of
our construction team and their services improved the quality of our developments overall.
Our experience working with Sean Leonard and Associates has been excellent. I would definitely
work with them again if the opportunity presented itself. |

Sean Leonard’s
calm professionalism and wealth
of experience earn him respect
from contractors, engineers, architects and all involved in a project,
resulting in the cooperation needed to move forward. Sean also
has the keen ability to sort through superfluous issues to find
the root of the problem.
He is not easily distracted and stays
focused on
what is important to avoid future problems and
to get
the job done. |

| Building Walt Disney
Concert Hall was a rewarding challenge for all involved. There
were a lot of cooks in the kitchen, and the extremely high visibility
of the project created an expected high level of anxiety. Sean
was a key reason I always saw the process as smooth and manageable:
his ability to provide me with information, guidance and details
in a timely fashion was paramount in successfully integrating
the end user into a complex web of construction. The Philharmonic
was lucky to have Sean as the project manager for our new home,
and we will always be grateful for his help. |

| During the construction
of the music library, we faced some major obstacles. However, in
every case Sean facilitated the resolution effectively and amiably
to the satisfaction of all parties. My encounters with Sean were
always pleasant and met with the utmost professionalism. The building
of this most unique hall was steered by a talented and devoted
project management group. The successful completion and outstanding
results were recognized and celebrated by many worldwide. |

| The Working Artists Ventura Project (WAV) |
| S.L.Leonard & Associates brings an important element to the table: Because they focus on the details of building, negotiating and bidding, we are freed up to focus on accomplishing our vision. And because they have worked every job around the table at most construction meetings, they bring credibility in working with the contractors. Their requests are always grounded in experience, which makes the process much more productive. Sean and Mike make a nice team—Sean has a quiet authority and Mike is always prepared to push hard to represent the client. Together, they maintain the positive relationships necessary to keep the project moving along with the client’s interests well represented. |

President, PLACE |
| S.L. Leonard was the magical missing piece to make the WAV project a reality. It’s an incredibly complex project to construct, and we just didn’t know how to make it happen. It includes affordable housing, a performing arts theater, transitional living, art studios, live-work space, it’s all LEED certified, and on and on. The city was excited by the new urbanist principles it embodies, but was concerned about how to get it built. PLACE brought Sean’s team on board before the bid process, and he guided everything. He was always right on the mark to ensure success for us all. |
