  Sean Leonard, President and Founder

With more than 25 years in the Southern California real estate development and construction industry, Sean L. Leonard began his career as a concrete subcontractor and progressed to general contracting and development management. He is now a project manager and owner's representative who oversees multi-million dollar projects.

As president and founder of S.L. Leonard & Associates, Inc., Sean is personally involved in all of the company's projects, utilizing his big picture thinking and high level negotiation skills. Through his relationships with leaders of all aspects of the industry, Sean knows how to bring the appropriate resources into projects at the appropriate time, and is an expert at project closeouts and turnarounds.

Prior to forming his own firm, Sean spent more than five years as the senior vice president of project management for the owners of the world-acclaimed Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by Frank Gehry. The venue opened on time and now houses the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among other organizations. Past projects also include Wilshire Courtyard, Janss Court, Third Street Promenade, Gas Company Tower, UCLA Law School Addition and Renovation, Amtrak Western Regional Reservation Center, Ken Edwards Community Center and the Sixth and Cherry Parking Structure in Seattle.

Through the USC School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, he has been an adjunct professor and teaches in both the Master of Construction Management and the Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree programs. Sean also guest lectures in the Masters in Real Estate Development program at USC. As a faculty member through the UCLA Extension program, Sean lectures on construction management and is a guest lecturer for the UCLA Shopping Center Development class.

Sean also serves as the second vice president and board member of A Community of Friends, developers of low income and special needs housing, chairs the Building Committee at Crossroads Community Church and sits on the Strategic Facilities Committee at Oaks Christian School. He is a member of the Construction Management Association of America, the American Institute of Architects and a repeat speaker to SCANPH (So Cal Assoc of Non Profit Housing). Sean was featured in the Pacific Coast Business Times' "Who's Who in Commercial Real Estate and Construction".

Sean holds a B.S. in civil engineering from UCLA and an M.B.A. from USC.

  Linda Mele, Senior Project Manager, LEED Certified Professional

Linda Mele is experienced in all phases of construction project management, including design team selection, programming and design activities, construction document review, regulatory approvals, bidding, GC negotiations, daily construction phase management activities, and occupancy and warranty phases.   Ms. Mele is also experienced in interacting with a variety of owner entities such as executive teams, operations and maintenance teams, building committees, public review committees, and lenders.

Ms. Mele is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is actively involved in guiding her clients towards green building techniques.  She is accredited in LEED for New Construction, and is versed in the LEED for Homes and the BuildItGreen rating systems, as well as the local green building ordinances in Southern California.

As a construction manager, Linda has brought local schools, churches, libraries and multifamily residential projects from the ground up. In the aerospace industry, she designed and manufactured complex structural systems and oversaw engineering departments as large as 70 employees.

Her construction management experience includes the reopening of Margate Intermediate School and modernization of six elementary schools for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, the construction of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, the renovation of Ascension Lutheran Church, the preconstruction of the City of Camarillo Library, University of Judaism, American Cancer Society and the closeout negotiations for City of Hope Replacement Medical Center. Additionally, Linda has managed seven multi-unit residential projects, totalling in excess of 400 units.

Linda received both her B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, with emphasis in structural mechanics and structural dynamics.

  Michael Iwuchukwu, Senior Project Manager

With experience in multiple management functions, Michael Iwuchukwu manages projects of all sizes, from concept to occupancy, with attention to overall plans and small, yet critical, details.

Michael has managed the construction of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Park One at LAX Airport, Janss Court in Santa Monica and Wilshire Courtyard in Los Angeles. He also was assigned to the construction of the 78,000 square foot Wilshire and Lapeer building in Beverly Hills and the renovation of the 20-story, 300,000 square foot office building located at 811 Wilshire in downtown Los Angeles. During these projects, he developed the scope of work, wrote subcontract agreements, and supervised project staff, cost control, approval of change orders, billing, and liaisons between clients and consultants.

Michael's experience also includes supervising and managing construction projects for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nigeria, where he was responsible for maintenance of all United States Government mission facilities, as well as budgetary planning, human resources, security and safety, and communications and records.

Since joining S.L. Leonard & Associates, Inc., Mike had been assigned to the $200,000,000 City of Hope Replacement Hospital in Duarte, and completed the Las Brisas II affordable housing project, Fuller Lofts, Hart Village and Olive Court condominiums for S.L. Leonard. Currently, Mr. Iwuchukwu is leading the project management efforts of the 63,000 square foot Charles Drew University Life Sciences Research and Nursing Education Project and the 150,000 square foot WAV mixed use project.

Michael received both his B.S. in civil engineering, emphasizing construction management and structure, and a diploma in programming and data processing from the University of Southern California.

 Miriam Tasker, Project Manager

Ms. Tasker brings 26 years of design and construction experience to S.L. Leonard & Associates. Miriam has accumulated vast experience in design, production of working drawings, coordination of consultants, and supervision of building construction for diverse building project types. These include hotels, offices, schools, shopping center, churches, and single and multi family low and high rise residential architecture.

Her most notable recent projects include Whitesands School, Silverbird Galleria, Lagoon Secondary School, Diamond Bank Branch Building, D-Ivy College, Hold Trade Office Headquarters, Institute of Industrial Technology and the Nigerian Chancery in Canberra, Australia.

During seventeen years in the position of architectural director, she has been personally involved in planning and supervising construction works for more than twenty-six (26) Meetinghouses for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also designed and supervised construction of a Regional Office and a Mission Home for the same organization.

With her experience and understanding of what is required to transform an architectural concept to a functional, occupiable building, Miriam effectively manages both the design and construction of complex projects.

Miriam received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Iowa State University and a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A & M University.

G. Bradley Karr, P.E., Mechanical and Electrical Specialist

From museums and destination hotels to medical facilities and corporate headquarters, G. Bradley "Brad" Karr' s 25 year career includes extensive experience in engineering studies and evaluations, mechanical and electrical engineering design, project administration and management, and construction management.

Brad performs drawing reviews and general managment of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection disciplines for SL Leonard's more complext projects.

Brad has been responsible for extensive work for governmental agencies like the State of California, U.S. Postal Services, Corps of Engineers and Veterans' Administration, and for corporate headquarters for Exxon Corporation, Fluor Corporation, Northrop Corporation and USAA Insurance Company. Brad consulted for the Grand Ole Opry, the J. Paul Getty Center in Los Angeles, Walt Disney Concert Hall, multiple medical facilities, Disneyworld' s Contemporary and Polynesian Hotels, as well as high rise/life safety retrofits. He also served as managing principal at one of Southern California' s most prominent mechanical and electrical design firms.

Brad received his B.S. in engineering from Loyola University in Los Angeles and performed graduate studies in business management at California State University, Los Angeles.

Marsha Peterson, Scheduler

Marsha Peterson sets the schedule for successful project completion. Through project management scheduling, training and consulting, Marsha has provided full-dimensioned scheduling services for a broad spectrum of construction projects. Sean and Marsha have worked together on multiple, complex projects since 1996.

As an integral part of the S.L. Leonard & Associates team, Marsha supports the establishment of or reviews contractor schedules for the duration of the project from concept to occupancy. She reviews electronic files of monthly schedule submittals and tracks changes in logic, sequence, duration, progress irregularities, critical and near critical activities to ensure that schedules are realistic, fair and accurately represent progress in the field.

During her 20 years of experience in project scheduling, Marsha has worked on such projects as the LAC + USC Hospital Replacement Project, City of Arcadia Police Department Facility, Disneyland Resort Expansion, California Adventure, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Caesar’s Palace Parking Structure and Escondido’s California Center for the Arts.She has also worked on CALTRANS projects and Los Angeles Unified School District expansion projects.

Marsha received her B.A. in history from California State University, Fullerton. She has been a member of the Project Management Institute for 16 years and is a member of PMI’s College of Scheduling.
